Back in April, Dr. Henry Abraham — a well-known psychiatrist who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 — called for U.S. President Donald Trump to be removed from office because of his mental state. Trump’s lack of mental fitness, Abraham argued, made him a threat to not only the United States, but the world in general. And during a Wednesday, September 2 appearance on SiriusX radio host Dean Obeidallah’s show, Abraham warned that Trump’s mental state is even more dangerous than it was earlier this year.

When Obeidallah asked the 84-year-old Abraham if anything had changed with Trump’s mental health since April, he bluntly responded, “Yeah, if anything, it’s worse.”
Abraham told Obeidallah, “It’s subtle in terms of his mental status because a lot of it is more of the same. But when you get confirmatory evidence that points in the same direction again and again, after a while you sort of know what you’re dealing with, and you kind of know what needs to be done.”
The Nobel Prize-winning psychiatrist didn’t mince words during the interview, warning that the world is in a dangerous position when someone with poor mental health has easy access to nuclear weapons.
“I mean, if an airline pilot had half of the symptoms that the president of the United States has, we would not let him on an airplane; we certainly wouldn’t want to fly with him,” Abraham told Obeidallah. “We wouldn’t want a neurosurgeon to walk into the operating room and operate on — it doesn’t make sense. And yet, we have a system which enfolds the president’s health in a shroud of secrecy … When a person has sole access to the nuclear armamentaria, it’s crazy — and this is what we’re doing.”

Abraham stressed that as someone with “a certain degree of expertise in mental health,” he finds Trump’s erratic behavior to be increasingly troubling.
The Philadelphia-born Abraham told Obeidallah, “I think we’re in even more danger of Donald Trump using a nuclear weapon in a fit of pique or rage or confusion or poor impulse control than ever before. So yes, he’s more dangerous.'”
Abraham said of nuclear weapons, “Essentially, we’re talking about a technology that can end human life as we know it on the planet. And now, we have a president who has, you know, no true concept of what he talks about. He thinks of a nuclear weapon as just a, quote, a bigger bomb — or that we can somehow survive a limited nuclear war.”
