CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe made the observation on X Wednesday, saying that the White House announced that Trump would “maintain a closed schedule today.”
“Besides weekend glimpses of him playing golf, and a taped TV interview with his daughter-in-law that aired Saturday, he has not held a public event in a week,” O’Keefe observed.
The move comes a week after Trump’s physical and 11 days before his 80th birthday.
“The seemingly omnipresent president is in reality rather hidden away as his second term unfolds,” remarked AFP desk chief Seastion Smith.
The Democratic Party’s rapid response staffer, Kendall Witmer, thinks Trump “can’t face Americans. Won’t face Americans.”
Others asked if perhaps he was ill or had a stroke, but one criticized O’Keefe for being a purported journalist and not wanting to get to the bottom of what could be going on.

The criticism comes as questions resurface about the president’s health and wellness. Doctors responded to details in Trump’s medical report, saying there were many glaring omissions and strange terms no doctor would ever use. Forbes explained that there were still lingering questions.
The health report had been stalled for three days, even though physicians typically brief within 48 hours, CNN reported last week.
Questions surfaced on Tuesday as it approached six days since seeing the president.
On June 2, Trump gave an interview to the New York Post, speaking with Miranda Devine about the 2020 “rigged” election.
The conservative National Review columnist Jim Geraghty expressed concern when President Joe Biden disappeared from public view for four days during the Afghanistan withdrawal. It happened again when Biden disappeared for three days during the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. Behind the scenes, it was later reported that Biden was on more than two dozen emergency calls and gave a public address.
One person commented to O’Keefe, “But let’s hear more about Jill Biden’s book.”
The last time Trump was seen in public was a pre-taped interview he did seven days ago “for his Cabinet meeting,” a reporter explained.
