Conservative CNN pundit SE Cupp had no patience to give for the cost of President Donald Trump’s wasted campaign promises and the travesty of his deceit leading up to his 2024 election victory.

Speaking on a Wednesday panel for “The Arena with Kasie Hunt,” Cupp said the sheer lethalality of Trump’s lies was a woeful betrayal of the neoconservative movement, which had already been reeling with the devastation of past Republican president’s mendacity.
“I came up in a neoconservative movement and then watched the Iraq War fittingly put the death knell in that movement in many ways. And it felt as if neocon Republicans’ kind of learned a lesson,” said Cupp. “Trump, I think, got elected both times because of his opposition to the Iraq War. He talked a lot about it in 2016. It was a huge mark of distinction between him and Hillary Clinton. He exploited that. And then in 2024, he talked a lot about never getting us into a war with Iran.”
“A vote for Kamala was a vote for war with Iran, or a vote for World War III,” Cupp added. “He conned a lot of people on his side into believing that he was going to be the president that didn’t get us into these endless wars.”
Cupp said she was baffled by exactly what pushed Trump to make such a regrettable move, considering his lack of preparation. Trump’s missteps were made all the more tragic by recent news of his war’s death toll and the White House mischaracterizing US casualties.

On Wednesday, official figures released by the Department of Defense on casualties in Iran place the number of American service members wounded and killed at 411. But according to a new report from the Intercept, that number “erases” 15 wounded from the count, amounting to the very “definition of a cover-up.”
Cupp, herself, was livid.
“It’s hard to imagine what he took into consideration when he went into this, because we seem very ill prepared,” she marveled. “And Iran seems very patient, waiting us out. I can’t imagine among the many things he didn’t consider that he considered the toll, the death toll, the human cost of this that we’re seeing in the faces of these fallen soldiers now.”
“I didn’t want this war,” Cupp insisted to the panel. “I think this war was dumb. We shouldn’t have gone in. We definitely shouldn’t have gone in with no strategy. I’m concerned, though, that the president is going to give Iran exactly what it’s wanting, which is that he’ll cave to political pressures because of the upcoming election. We shouldn’t be here, but we are. It is up to us to get out responsibly. We owe that to the Iranian people, who we promised to liberate. We owe this to our allies, who we have involved. And now, we owe this to the American people and our fallen soldiers to leave responsibly.”
