The difficult economy is causing trouble for Americans, whether or not they have a Donald Trump sticker on their car. MS NOW has spent the week speaking with voters of President Donald Trump and whether they feel like he’s doing a good job. <\/p>\n

One such mom was at the gas station when a reporter asked her about the high costs. She confessed that things are hard and she’s doing the best she can for her children, but was ultimately brought to tears as she spoke. <\/p>\n

Trump spoke in Las Vegas on Wednesday that the U.S. is in a “golden age” and that he never gets credit for all the work he’s done for the country. <\/p>\n

“In my first day, the press said, what are you going to do<\/span> about affordability? It was a<\/span> word they devised: affordability,” Trump said after campaigning on making things more affordable.<\/span><\/p>\n

“They never used that word<\/span> before,” Trump continued. “It was announced that<\/span> American exports are totally on<\/span> fire in a positive way. This is<\/span> a positive fire, not a negative.<\/span> I don’t get any credit for<\/span> anything. We will pass the<\/span> great health care plan. It’s<\/span> called the great health care<\/span> plan. The golden age of America<\/span> is upon us.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to the MS NOW reporter, the mom said she didn’t expect the second Trump term to go this way. <\/span><\/p>\n

“I hoped it<\/span> was going to be so much better.<\/span> You know, you can’t do anything<\/span> with gas prices and you just<\/span> can’t. You can’t afford to<\/span> breathe at this point,” she said, her voice cracking. “I’m very<\/span> hurt. I try to \u2014 sorry, I cried.<\/span> I try to do a lot for my kids<\/span> and I can’t do much.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Democratic strategist Mike Nellis told MS NOW he recalled Trump campaigning in 2024 about groceries. During a press conference at Bedminster, Trump stood next to a table full of items from cereal to ground beef, milk and eggs. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“I think people feel<\/span> hoodwinked,” said Nellis. “Like Donald Trump<\/span> is acting like we just<\/span> invented the word affordability.<\/span> I’ve heard him say the same thing about groceries<\/span> thing about groceries. He’s<\/span> like, nobody ever talked about<\/span> groceries until I came along.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“He literally campaigned on that,” host Ali Vitali said. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“He’s like, I invented<\/span> the word. I don’t understand it.<\/span> It’s like he got elected on a<\/span> single promise, really, two<\/span> promises, but a single promise<\/span> of when I get elected,<\/span> everything will get less<\/span> expensive. And now he’s acting<\/span> like, well, why did you guys<\/span> think I’d be able to get<\/span> anything done on that?”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He said he felt bad for that mom, along with all of the “other people who thought that their lives were going to get better, and now they’re just watching Donald Trump make billions of dollars as awful. And that’s why he’s<\/span> going to lose in November.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
