President Donald Trump refused to answer when a reporter asked him if blowing up civilian sites in Iran constituted a war crime.<\/p>\n

Mediaite reports Trump spoke to reporters Friday from the Oval Office when The New York Times\u2019<\/em> Shawn McCreesh asked the hard question about his threat to escalate his war with Iran by destroying civilian resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cA question about Iran,\u201d piped McCreesh. \u201cYou\u2019re talking about blowing up civilian power plants and bridges, much of the civilized world would consider that a war crime. Do you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t respond to that question,\u201d said Trump, who instead attacked McCreesh\u2019s company for daring to pose the question. <\/p>\n

\u201cWho are you with?\u201d the president demanded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe New York Times,\u201d McCreesh answered.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFigures. Failing New York Times,\u201d Trump mumbled.<\/p>\n

Mediaite reports Trump\u2019s contemptuous nonanswer came on the heels of the Iran conflict escalating, and four American soldiers recently killed.<\/p>\n

Critics on X did not abide Trump\u2019s refusal well.<\/p>\n

\u201cA reminder that when journalists fawn over Trump giving them more access than previous presidents, taking more questions more regularly, this is how he actually \u2018answers\u2019 those questions,\u201d said Zeteo founder and British-American broadcaster Mehdi Hasan on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cANY time he doesn’t like a question, he insults the reporter!\u201d commented retired Marine Stephen Cottrill on X.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe press haven’t learnt,\u201d said another X user. \u201cThey need to just keep following up with the same question. Over and over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSee you in The Hague, pal!\u201d howled another.<\/p>\n

Another called out Trump\u2019s flawed opinion of failure: \u201cHe’s been calling the Times \u2018failing\u2019 for over a decade,\u201d said the heckler. \u201cNever has a rate of decline been so gradual.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week Trump threatened to knock out \u201cONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT\u201d for every shot fired at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, even as his unilateral war with Iran continues to tank the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n
