On Tuesday, President Donald Trump shared a post to social media that explains his \u201cgoblin\u201d worldview, according to one of his bestselling biographers. <\/p>\n

The president\u2019s post read, \u201cRich people and Companies are pouring out of Dumocrat run Blue States at levels never seen before! If this trend continues, these States will become the \u2018Ghettos\u2019 of the Future \u2014 No people, no money, no hope. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP.\u201d<\/p>\n

He made the statement along with an article from a MAGA-oriented outlet Just the News, which asserted that wealthy business owners are making an \u201cexodus\u201d from liberal states like \u201cTaxifornia\u201d and New York to conservative states like Florida and Texas. According to biographer Seth Abramson, who has penned a trilogy of bestselling books about Trump, this post revealed something disturbing about the way the president views the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you read this post as contending that the only people *deserving* of being called \u2018people\u2019 are the rich (coded as white) and corporations, you’re reading the post correctly and correctly understanding the worldview of the goblin who currently leads the United States of America,\u201d Abramson declared<\/u>. <\/p>\n

Abramson, a trained criminal investigator who spent years digging into Trump, may be especially well qualified to decode the president\u2019s statement, but he isn\u2019t the only one who came to the conclusion that it was \u201cracist.\u201d<\/p>\n

“He keeps telling yall he’s racist and yall continue to defend him,” one X user <\/u>declared, while another noted it “seems rather on the nose for a fascist regime leader to say.\u201d Suggested another, “He should probably sell all his NY\/NJ assets or admit he’s just saying this stuff for clicks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others have noted that the truth behind the president’s assertion about businesses exiting blue states \u201cis more complicated than Trump claims.\u201d According to the Daily Beast<\/u>, \u201cSince 2019, Charles Schwab, Tesla, Chevron, SpaceX, and Oracle have abandoned California for Texas, while some hedge funds have relocated from New York to Florida and Texas during that same time period. But California has continued to grow economically, and last year, the state overtook Japan as the world\u2019s fourth-largest economy. New York, meanwhile, had the highest GDP per capita of any state in 2024, the New York Times reported.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, the Daily Beast elaborates, \u201con the population front, between 2020 and 2025, California, New York, and Illinois all lost between 76,000 and 172,500 residents, while the populations of Florida and Texas have grown, The New York Times<\/u> reported in April. Those numbers, however, reflect the fact that blue states like California saw relatively high net outflows during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2022, but that their populations then grew in 2023 and 2024 and flattened out in 2025, according to the Times. Texas and Florida, meanwhile, had more international immigration during that period than any other state in the country \u2014 something the Trump administration has tried to curtail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Census data shows that starting in 2022, \u201cthe number one reason people moved was that they were looking for more affordable housing, not because of tax concerns, according to the Times. Blue states with lower housing costs such as Minnesota have not seen nearly as much net migration.\u201d<\/p>\n
