Let me get right to the point. The Senate should not confirm Todd Blanche as attorney general. <\/p>\n

Blanche, who used to be Trump\u2019s private lawyer, has treated the Justice Department as Trump\u2019s private law firm. He still believes that Trump \u2014 rather than the United States \u2014 is his client.<\/p>\n

At the very least, the Senate should insist, as a condition of confirming Blanche, that the May 19 deal Blanche devised to immunize Trump and his family from all future prosecutions \u2014 which Blanche alone signed \u2014 be nullified. <\/p>\n

The purpose of that immunity deal \u2014 which resulted from Trump\u2019s own bizarre lawsuit against the IRS \u2014 should by now be clear. It\u2019s to prevent any future government inquiry into the corrupt dealings of Trump and his family. <\/p>\n

The breadth of the so-called \u201csettlement\u201d agreement between Trump and, well, Trump is staggering. Take a look at it, here.<\/p>\n

Boiled down to its bare essentials, the deal \u201cforever<\/em>\u201d protects Trump and his family from \u201call claims<\/em>\u201d or \u201ccauses of action<\/em>\u201d or \u201crequests for any relief<\/em>\u201d including \u201cexaminations<\/em>\u201d that \u201ccould have been<\/em>\u201dasserted by the United States against Trump, his children, \u201cor affiliated individuals<\/em>\u201d or \u201cparties<\/em>\u201d which arise out of \u201cany matters<\/em>\u201d or of \u201cLawfare and\/or Weaponization<\/em>\u201d or of any matters that \u201ccould be pending<\/em>\u201d before the United States or its agencies and departments. <\/p>\n

Put another way, the U.S. government is prohibited from looking into any of the corrupt s— Trump or his family have gotten into. <\/p>\n
