Donald Trump\u2019s biographer Michael Wolff offered a blunt read on how the president views the Black community, and why \u201cracist\u201d counts as \u201chigh praise\u201d in MAGA world, The Daily Beast reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cClearly, he has some issue with Black people,\u201d Wolff told The Daily Beast Podcast about President Trump. \u201cThe world is a better place to him without Black people, or without having to be aware of Black people, without Black people somehow in what he considers a zero sum game with white people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Daily Beast recounted several instances in which Trump has served up \u201cincendiary rhetoric\u201d and exhibited \u201cactions described by his critics as racist.\u201d Trump has denied the accusations and in January 2018 told reporters, \u201cNo, no, I\u2019m not a racist. I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed,\u201d according to Politico.<\/p>\n

Shortly before those remarks, The Washington Post had reported that Trump \u201cgrew frustrated with lawmakers\u201d when \u201cthey discussed protecting immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to several people briefed on the meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy are we having all these people from s\u2014\u2014 countries come here?\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries such as Norway,\u201d the Post reported at the time.<\/p>\n

The Daily Beast added that Trump \u201claunched his 2016 election campaign with a speech accusing Mexico of deliberately sending \u2018criminals\u2019 and \u2018rapists\u2019 across the border into the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2017, Trump \u201cdescribed participants at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, as \u2018very fine people.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 1973,\u201d The Daily Beast also noted, \u201cthe Department of Justice sued Trump and his companies for discriminating against Black renters, and under the Obama administration he was one of the most vocal proponents of the \u2018birther\u2019 conspiracy theory.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolff also told The Daily Beast Podcast that Trump \u201ccertainly regards Black people as profoundly different from white people.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Wolff explained why the word \u201cracist\u201d is \u201chigh praise\u201d among Trump\u2019s MAGA base.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean the word racist now becomes in the Trump world a kind of high praise, because it\u2019s meant to suggest the liberal overreach and the liberals call anybody racist,\u201d Wolff said.<\/p>\n
