Over the weekend, President Donald Trump blasted a torrent of AI-slop across social media, much of which was intended to portray him as \u201cthe badass that he isn\u2019t and will never be.\u201d According to Boston Globe columnist Renee Graham<\/u>, however, rather than making him look great, the president\u2019s \u201ccringe-worthy nonsense\u201d exposed his own version of \u201cderangement syndrome.\u201d In Trump\u2019s case, his derangement involves Barack Obama. <\/p>\n

\u201cAmong the many asinine AI-generated images that President Trump posted on his social media site on Saturday, anything pertaining to the solemn 82d anniversary of World War II\u2019s D-Day invasion was not among them,\u201d noted Graham. \u201cInstead there was an AI slop music video<\/u> of Trump skydiving; carrying a pizza with tomato sauce fashioned into a self-portrait; riding a lion and a motorcycle; and being the badass that he isn\u2019t and will never be. There was also a lot of other cringe-worthy nonsense unlikely to quell growing alarm about his mental fitness<\/u>.\u201d<\/p>\n

At some point, Trump turned the aim of his social media slop on Obama. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor the second time in recent days, Trump depicted the soon-to-open Obama Presidential Center<\/u> in Chicago as a dumpster topped with a garbage bag<\/u>, this time surrounded by a squalid tent city,\u201d Graham explained. \u201cOf the four living former presidents \u2014 Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Joe Biden, and Obama \u2014 Trump is most obsessed with the man whose presidency preceded his own first term.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why? According to Graham, \u201cHe hates him because he ain\u2019t him.\u201dAs an example, she said one needs look no further than Monday\u2019s Knicks game.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember that time Obama attended a sporting event and got mercilessly booed? You probably don\u2019t because it has never happened. In any arena he\u2019s visited, Obama has been greeted warmly<\/u>,\u201d wrote Graham. \u201cBut when Trump appeared on the Jumbotron at Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, he was ferociously booed<\/u>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Afterward, Trump tried to spin the humiliating scene, telling reporters, \u201cIt was, I think, mostly cheers. It was loud, and it was very enthusiastic.\u201d But according to Graham, \u201cWhat millions heard was the sound of a nation\u2019s deepening dissatisfaction with Trump. Yet instead of trying to salvage his presidency with policies that work for a majority of Americans instead of only his wealthy pals, Trump is dissing Obama\u2019s library and the man himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Trump and his allies have spent years claiming that anyone who criticized him had \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome,\u201d Graham asserts that \u201cas usual with Trump, every accusation is a confession. It\u2019s Trump who is completely deranged when it comes to Obama.\u201d<\/p>\n

She pointed out that even before entering politics, Trump attempted to delegitimize Obama\u2019s presidency with lies regarding his birthplace, claiming he was born in Kenya. Later as president, Trump claimed that Obama had committed \u201ctreason\u201d and had tried to \u201csteal\u201d the 2016 election for Hilary Clinton. More recently, he posted an AI-generated video portraying both Barack and Michelle Obama as apes, which prompted so much outrage that he took the rare step of deleting the post. <\/p>\n

And according to Graham, while much of it may seem like \u201cinfantile\u201d nonsense, in the real world, \u201cthe ramifications of Trump\u2019s Obama derangement syndrome are far more grim.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2018, Trump withdrew from his predecessor\u2019s peace deal with Iran, and leaks later revealed that he did it \u201cto spite Obama<\/u>.\u201d Now, as Trump\u2019s war with Iran drags on with no end in sight, \u201cTrump, according to a recent report in The Atlantic, is desperate to make a deal that doesn\u2019t fall short of Obama\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Graham\u2019s assessment of why Trump is so bothered by Obama would likely rankle the former\u2019s syndrome regarding the latter. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt should go without saying that Trump\u2019s disdain for Obama is driven by racism \u2014 the heartbeat of MAGA,\u201d Graham explained. \u201cTrump can\u2019t fathom how a Black man was twice elected president, led this nation for eight years without a major scandal, has an admired marriage to an accomplished woman, and is arguably one of the most revered former presidents in American history. At a time when Trump\u2019s administration is diminishing, if not outright erasing, the achievements of anyone who isn\u2019t a straight white man, Obama\u2019s star remains undimmable. In every way, Obama is the anti-Trump, and it drives Trump crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
