Tuesday\u2019s Republican House primary in Kentucky was the most expensive primary in American history, and in the end, incumbent Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) was unseated by challenger Ed Gallrein, who ran under the endorsement of President Donald Trump. Massie drew Trump\u2019s ire by opposing several of his signature policies and forcing the release of the Epstein files, and in the wake of his loss to a MAGA-blessed candidate, many on the right are suggesting that the president\u2019s win may prove to be political folly in the November general election amid an increasingly anti-Trump atmosphere. <\/p>\n

Now one of Trump\u2019s former allies, Alex Jones, who helped launch the president\u2019s political career, is accusing him of something much worse than electoral ineptitude. Jones asserts that the Kentucky election was stolen altogether. <\/p>\n

Speaking on his podcast on Wednesday, Jones asserted that he became suspicious in the run-up to Tuesday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018I\u2019ve got a bad feeling \u2014 my feelings are pretty much never wrong \u2014 when I saw Hegseth the night before so confident and just the body language and all of it,\u201d claimed Jones. \u201cI knew that when you have the Pentagon campaigning against you for the first time ever in U.S. history, they\u2019re not going to be embarrassed. They\u2019re not going to, on something like that, have defeat. I knew right then that the fix was in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones was referring to a stump speech for Gallrein delivered by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth the day before the primary, in which the Pentagon chief criticized Massie for his disloyalty. As Politico noted, \u201cThe Defense secretary\u2019s remarks \u2014 which came after he awarded medals to service members at nearby Fort Campbell \u2014 were unusual for the civilian head of the military, who has traditionally avoided overt political posturing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so dangerous and so wrong,\u201d said Jones of Hegseth\u2019s foray into the race.<\/p>\n

Jones \u2014 a notorious conspiracy theorist \u2014 didn\u2019t lay out the specifics of how he thought the election was stolen, but he did have a few general suggestions. <\/p>\n

“There are major anomalies that are too astronomical for this to be organic,\u201d he asserted, \u201clike the AIPAC-funded opponent increasing voter turnout by 357 percent.\u201d <\/p>\n

Jones drew his information from former far-right senatorial candidate Sam Parker, himself prone to election conspiracy theorizing, who posted a series of charts to X along with the question, \u201cDid Massie get 2020\u2019d?\u201d According to his unsourced figures, Gallrein did little debating and significantly underearned Massie in small-dollar donations, and while the latter saw only a 19 percent increase in incumbent voter turnout versus the 2024 election, Gallrein supposedly saw a 357 percent increase as the challenger.<\/p>\n

It must be reiterated that these are unsourced numbers from a pair of notorious conspiracy theorists. Jones also mentioned that a surge in last-minute mail-in ballots could have contributed to the steal, which was a common assertion among deniers of the 2020. <\/p>\n

While he was an instrumental influencer in the early days of Trump\u2019s MAGA movement, the two have split recently over Jones\u2019 disappointment at the president\u2019s handling of the Epstein case, his decision to launch war against Iran, and other issues. Jones has also questioned Trump\u2019s physical and mental health, suggesting that the president may have dementia and that his \u201cbrain\u2019s not doing too hot.\u201d<\/p>\n
